With over a million books in print, he is the bestselling author and co-author of more than twenty-five books on the care and breeding of amphibians and reptiles. His current work focuses on establishing guidelines for the display of amphibians and reptiles in naturalistic vivaria, and developing a handbook on how to apply herpetoculture as a tool for teaching biology.
Ron Tremper
With a career spanning four decades Ron has become well known as a pioneer in herpetoculture. During his tenure at the Fresno Zoo, as Curator of Reptiles, he was the recipient of the American Zoo Association First Breeding Award for the Santa Catalina Island Rattlesnake, (Crotalus catalinensis), and the New Zealand green gecko, (Naultinus elegans). Recognized worldwide as the foremost authority on leopard geckos, he has developed the majority of all known color and pattern morphs. This book brings to bear his vast knowledge gained during over 30 years keeping and selectively breeding geckos. 2005 marks the production of Ron’s 27th generation of unbroken bloodlines in leopard geckos and the debut of four new mutations in the most definitive work on this subject ever compiled.
